Facial Motion Capture
To be able to master the finesse of all the movements of a body has and remains a very subtle task. But to be able to present 3D characters who show emotion, which is the goal of every actor, it is above all necessary to fully master the facial and eye movements.
With this goal in mind, MocapLab’s Research & Development department is focusing it’s research in this field. From the first project carried out at Actisystem in 1993, featuring Richard Borhinger (a famous French actor) in “20000 lieues sous les mers”, to the recent work on the film “Ne te retourne pas”, we have continued to increase our knowledge, know-how and tools in this area.
The results obtained allow us to provide a more complete offer, whether it be in the definition of the specific methodology of our project, during the shoot or while transferring the data onto the final face.
Our goal is not only to reach the “Uncanny Valley”, but to also understand the mechanisms that make a face work, ie realistic or not realistic.
