Vision

MocapLab’s main ambition is to further develop the career of “movement engineers.” We see Mocap as a means of recording and reproducing a living movement. We see movement through our years of experience as being as rich and as subtle as sound. We are movement engineers as others are sound engineers. The only difference is that we are roughly 100yrs behind and therefore have years ahead of us for further inventions and discoveries.
Our job is to subtley fusion the technical complexities with the emotions contained in the gestures, the pauses, the hesitations and the breathing of the actors. The actors, through the guidance of the director, are the creative artists. We rely on them fully to capture their emotions that are transferred by their gestures, their facial and eye and vocal expressions.

These multiple and complex movements are what we work with. We respect the harmony and balance of the movements, knowing full well how easily it can deteriorate and how difficult it is to preserve. Our job is to ensure that the actors are in a situation where they feel comfortable, to be discreet , to fully analyse the project and to do everything necessary to ensure that the emotions recorded are not lost once the shoot is over.
